Smart home automation systems make life more comfortable but also give you the security you’re after. Use smart lighting when you’re out for the night or on holiday to help you deter robberies and protect your home from break-ins.

According to United States Department of Justice, there are 2.5 million burglaries per year in the U.S. and Alarms.org revealed that homes with no security systems or deterrents are 300% more likely to be broken into and burglarized.

A crime statistics study by Eurostat found there were 1.3m robberies In Europe in 2016, and these numbers are on a steady 10 year down trend. One reason these numbers are dropping every year is the smart deterrents people use in their homes.

Working from home has its advantages, parents get to spend more time with their children, there’s no traffic on your way to work and video-calling technically doesn’t require you to wear anything below the waist. Making your garden smarter with Innr

Having a garden is awesome, especially during a sweet summer sunset. But what happens after the sunlight is gone, or when it gets too cold to go outside? We asked Judith – Innr’s lighting designer and product manager – to show us the secrets to light your garden exactly the way you want it. And in case you don’t like reading, we’ve added pictures!

Smart lighting used to be known as something for techies. It used to be tricky to install, in addition to requiring a lot of planning and multiple types of devices. With the advent of smart WiFi bulbs, those days are long gone! All you have to do nowadays is plug in a smart WiFi bulb, download the app, and you’re good to go.

Smart lighting has never been easier. This way you can focus on what’s most important; figuring out where to place them to light up your perfect home. We’ve asked Bianca van Schie, a professional interior designer from the Netherlands, how she would use our new Innr WiFi bulbs. With the goal of showcasing how to start out small in the best way possible, we asked her to limit herself to only four bulbs.

Creating a safer home using scenes and timers

Off course, you’ll probably start with smart lighting for your own comfort when you’re home. But even when you’re out, smart lighting can help making your home safer. Lights turning on and off irregularly make it look like you’re home, and that’s scaring off burglars. But what if you’re going away on holiday? We’ve thought of that! You can use the Innr app’s timer function to automatically turn lights on and off while you’re gone. Here’s a quick guide on how to do that.
